Our History
Aquarius Golf Club is proud to have played a part in the early story of Sir Henry Cotton. Joining the club at just 13, he won the Hutchings (Aquarius Club Championship) in 1923 before turning professional the following year and becoming the youngest ever Head Professional in the history of British golf at the age of 19.
Nicknamed “The Maestro”, Henry Cotton was a remarkable young amateur member of Aquarius Golf Club who went on to win The Open Championship three times and represent Great Britain in the Ryder Cup, cementing his place among the golfing greats.
His journey began at Aquarius and his legacy remains an important part of our history.
